QuickTweet: Compose Tweets in Notification Center

One of the main new features that made iOS 5 stand out from previous versions was Twitter integration in Safari, Photos, Camera, YouTube, and Maps. A new Cydia tweak called QuickTweet aims to take that integration further, by adding a Twitter compose button to Notification Center. Once installed, QuickTweet must be enabled from Settings and can be set to display on the bottom left or bottom right of Notification Center. QuickTweet, developed by Joseph Fabisevich, is available for free from Cydia under the BigBoss repository and is compatible with the iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 5 or later.

The Loop: No Apple Event Whatsoever in February

Earlier today, we reported on a rumor from the hit-and-miss Macotakara publication, which had claimed that Apple would be hosting a media event for unknown reasons at some point this month. As he often does, Jim Dalrymple from The Loophas debunked this rumor completely, stating that Apple will not hold an event in February whatsoever…

“This is not going to happen, according to my sources,” claims Dalrymple. “Apple will not hold an event in February, unusual or otherwise. That’s it.”

Apple Pre-Releases iOS 5.0.1 Through AppleSeed for Testing

Apple has pre-released iOS 5.0.1 to select users through their AppleSeed program to allow for testing of the new software update. Apple is hopeful that this iOS update will help resolve the battery issues that several iPhone 4S users have been experiencing.

The update also brings multitasking gestures to the original iPad and improves Siri performance for Australian users. Apple is expected to release iOS 5.0.1 to the general public in the next few weeks.
